Class of 1983 Naval Academy graduates cycle into area

Members of the Naval Academy Class of 1983 cycle into Denison on Highway 30 on Sunday afternoon. The day marked a ride of nearly 100 miles. Some of the cyclists rode additional distances on Donna Reed Road or around the parking lot upon arriving at their destination, Cobblestone Inn & Suites – Majestic Hills, just to get in the full 100 miles. The group’s 10-year goal is to raise $1.983 million to support organizations that serve veterans.  Photo by Gordon Wolf

Class of 1983 Naval Academy members do the daily routine of 22 pushups before starting on the road on Monday morning. It was Day 27 of 44 days on the road. Each of the cyclists raises $1,983 for the Naval Academy Foundation and then raises funds for a chosen charity that benefits veterans. The journey started on August 23 when the cyclists dipped the rear wheels of their bikes in the Puget Sound at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. It will end when the front wheels of the bikes are dipped in the Severn River at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, on October 5.  Photo by Gordon Wolf
