Denison parents plead not guilty to child endangerment

Josephine Michele Hazelwood, 25, and Cody William Hutchison, 25, both of Denison, pled not guilty on Friday to two counts of child endangerment.

They were charged with the aggravated misdemeanors on May 4.

One of the criminal complaints filed in district court says that on May 2, Hazelwood and Hutchison left their son, age 3, unsupervised at about 9:39 a.m. The boy then ran around naked at the trailer park where they lived and rolled in the ditch near Highway 30. The boy was found in an unlocked car in the trailer park. After the child was located, Hazelwood showed up claiming her son was kidnapped. Hazelwood then started to leave and had to be told to come and take custody of her child. According to Hazelwood, Hutchison was fishing.

The second criminal complaint says that about 4:24 p.m. on May 2, Hazelwood’s and Hutchison’s two minor children, ages eight and five, were found alone at their residence without proper care or supervision. It was later discovered that Hazelwood and Hutchison left for Oklahoma without making arrangements for the two minor children’s welfare.

Hazelwood and Hutchison were arrested on warrants on May 7. They were each released on $4,000 bail on May 9.
