Monarch girls’ soccer players receive season honors

The Denison-Schleswig girls’ soccer team had its end of season banquet on Thursday, May 30.

Following are the awards that were presented.

Outstanding Offensive Players:  Aremy Santos and Libby Leon

Outstanding Defensive Players: Janet Castillo, Jimena Lupian and Xochitl Arellano

Most Valuable Players: Estela Lupian and Sam Chandler

Denison-Schleswig had six players named to the Hawkeye 10 Conference All-Conference Team.

Janet Castillo and Sam Chandler were named to the first team.

Jimena Lupian was named to the second team.

Xochitl Arellano, Aremy Santos and Estela Lupian received honorable mention.

Additionally, Assistant Coach Kelly Hawn announced her retirement as a coach after coaching the Lady Monarchs for 13 seasons. 

Monarchs’ goalie selected for all-district team

Sam Chandler, who played goalie for the Denison-Schleswig Monarch girls’ soccer team, was selected for the All-District 2A West girls soccer team. 

She was one of 18 girls selected for the all-district soccer team.
