Denison will have a new laundromat
Personalized service offered
A young entrepreneur, Claudio Pulido, will soon open Carolina’s Laundrymat in Denison.
It will be in the former Siemer laundry building at 103 South 7th Street.
Pulido named the laundromat in honor of his deceased mother, Carolina.
Carolina’s Laundrymat will offer a personalized washing and folding service in addition to the self-service washers and dryers.
“The weight of the clothing will determine the service charge,” Claudio explained to La Prensa Iowa, Hispanic Newspaper.
Carolina's Laundrymat will also offer an exclusive home pickup and delivery service.
Pulido said the idea of a laundry with personalized service had been on his mind for several years.
"But it is a long process that takes time, especially finding the right place and working hard to follow the city codes, and although there had previously been a laundromat there, updating the place has not been easy at all," he said.
When asked when he plans to open the laundry, Pulido said, "I think in about two months. I am currently working on replacing the entire roof. This has been an unexpected expense and work, but it has to be done before the opening."
Pulido is also remodeling the interior and exterior of the building.
“The remodeling begins with putting in new insulation,” he said.
Pulido said he appreciates the support he’s received from his partner, Karen, a businesswoman who owns Bella's Jewels in downtown Denison.
"Karen has helped me a lot in this long process. Without her, this project would not be at the stage it is, so close to opening."
