In search of a pirate’s treasure

Photos by Gordon Wolf

Norelius Community Library invited people to find the treasure of Captain Corelius Carnegie Norelius on Monday during a pirate-themed escape room activity in the Carnegie section of the library. Participants had to find the combination to open a treasure chest by reading clues and completing a series of puzzles. Four sessions of the escape room were offered. Pictured, the Bonner sisters and Oxendale sisters were the participants at the 3 p.m. session; they are reading the first clue. In front, from left are Emmy Oxendale, Tayli Oxendale, Evie Bonner and Taryn Oxendale. In back are Camilla Bonner and Brigid Bonner.

The girls cracked the code and opened the treasure chest 20 minutes into the 45 minutes they were allowed. Among the treasure in the chest were skeleton statues and bags with chocolate coins and Ring Pops, which served as gems.
