On July 6, 2023, The Denison Free Press proudly released its first edition, marking the beginning of a new era in local journalism for Crawford County. Since then, we have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from our readers who love staying informed about the latest news and events in our small communities.

Every day, we receive heartfelt comments and requests, such as "When are they going to make the subscription service available?" and "I am an elderly person and need to receive The Denison Free Press at home. I am willing to pay a subscription." Additionally, we have been inundated with hundreds of letters and phone calls asking for a subscription service. For this, we are profoundly grateful to God and to you, our dear readers. Your encouragement motivates us daily to uphold our journalistic responsibility of bringing reliable information to your hands.

However, to continue providing this service, we must address our operational costs. Consequently, starting in July, The Denison Free Press will be sold for $2.50 per issue. In the meantime, we are diligently working with the Des Moines Post Office to establish a subscription service, a complex and expensive process that includes several steps:

Submitting an application and paying a non-refundable fee of nearly $1,000.00.
Providing a list of 200 potential subscribers with their names, addresses, and phone numbers for verification by the post office.
Coordinating with our printer to create barcodes for each subscriber.
Creating barcodes for retail distribution in stores and gas stations throughout the county.
