THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2023

Anime Club: Teens ages 12-18 may join the Norelius Community Library Fireside Room on the first Thursday of every month for Anime Club from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Each month, the first episode of a different anime will be presented, followed by 1-2 episodes of the recurring anime, “Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle.” Snacks and games will be provided.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2023

Read & Play: Join the Norelius Community Library Children’s Library for a toddler storytime, Read & Play on Saturday, September 9 from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a shorter story session designed for those who can’t quite sit still yet. Stories and songs will be followed by a play session with activities designed to work on fine motor or other skills. This session is designed for children ages 1-3, but older and younger children are welcome to attend. This Saturday session is a repeat of the previous Wednesday storytime.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2023

Actress Pippa White will perform “Far as the Eye Can See” at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 10, at the Dow City Community Building. The show is sponsored by the Dow City Public Library.

“Far as the Eye Can See” is a one-woman show that deals with the prairie and its people through history.

American Legion Post 8 of Denison will hold its monthly meeting at the Reed House at 7:00 p.m. on 9/11/23.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2023

Euchre night, 7-8 p.m. at Ricketts Community Building. Join in on a fun night of card playing, socializing, treats, and beverages. The card game will start at 7 p.m. The entry fee is $5 and there is no need to bring a partner. 

Book Signing: Bitter Not Better. Norelius Community Library will be having a book signing for Bitter Not Better by author Michelle Cowan on Tuesday, September 12, from 6 TO 7 p.m.  Michelle (Blum) Cowan, a lifelong resident of Iowa, married Joe Cowan in 1991. They had one daughter, but in 2009 Joe was killed by a drunk driver. In 2021, prompted by the start of her vision loss, Michelle decided to complete the memoir she had been writing since Joe was killed. Michelle takes the reader on a journey of love, loss, power, influence, courage, honor, and deep brokenness bringing the chance for a new normal, and a time of restoration and living with permission granted.

Euchre Night at Charter Oak Community Building, 7 p.m. Join a fun night of card playing with the game Euchre. (Need no partners before the game. You will be “partnered” up randomly throughout the night.)

AWV Staff Chicken Dinner: Join the AWV Staff for a drive-thru Staley’s Chicken Dinner on Wednesday, September 13, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Westside Community Building. Adult meals will be $14 and kids’ meals will be free.
