Ricketts celebration this weekend

On Saturday and Sunday, Ricketts will celebrate its 125th anniversary with a variety of events.

The quasquicentennial will open with a flag raising conducted by the Soldier Valley American Legion Riders in front of the fire station at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Saturday’s events include a craft show, a parade starting at 10 a.m., kids’ activities, a silent auction, a tractor pull, a kiddie tractor pull, music by Mix Music Productions, hamburgers and steak sandwiches grilled by the Crawford County Cattlemen’s Association, food vendors, an antique farm display, a dunk tank and a beer garden.

For people coming to the quasquicentennial celebration, parking will be on the east side of town and at the community club.

The parade lineup will be on the west side of town and starts at 8:30 a.m.

A unique attraction for kids will be a foam cannon. An old-fashioned carnival-style shooting gallery will be set up for kids and adults.

Sunday’s activities are church in the park at 10 a.m., a Staley’s chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a cornhole contest at the park starting at 2 p.m., with the beer garden, food vendors and an antique farm display available throughout the day.
