Ballot names set for November 7 city/school elections

Kris Rowedder retiring from Denison School Board

The names for the November 7 city and school elections are set. Last Thursday was the last day to file nomination papers.

One school election change will be the retirement of Kris Rowedder from the Denison School Board. She is in her 21st year on the board and had served as president of the board for a number of years. When she knew she was not going to run again, she stepped down as president two yeas ago to give other board members the experience of serving in that capacity. Louis Scheuring is the current board president.

Filing for the two seats up for election on the Denison School Board are Derek Lambert, an incumbent, and Michael Schrum.

Denison School Board seats are at-large.

Following are the other school board filings in the county.

Ar-We-Va: Greg Oeser, Brad R. Hinners and Denise Ragaller, all incumbents, filed for the three at-large positions up for election.

Boyer Valley: Incumbents Craig Malone, Benjamin Hansen, Steve Puck and Kim McAllister filed for re-election. Malone and McAllister are candidates for the two District 1 seats up for election, and Hansen and Puck are running for the two District 2 seats.

Charter Oak-Ute: Melanie McAndrews was the only incumbent to file for re-election. She is a District 1 board member. Gregory Amunson filed for the other District 1 seat up for election and Adam Hadden filed for the at-large seat. Kyle Schultz and Tyson Goslar did not file for re-election.

IKM-Manning: Mike Blum, Zachary Meiners (incumbent) and Sara Ferneding are running for one at-large position; Bridget Gore and T.J. Sterk are running for one District 1A position (incumbent is Beth Williams); David Heller (incumbent) and Emmalie Rasmussen are running for one District 2A position; and Jeremy Puck (incumbent) is running to fill a vacancy for an at-large position. A public measure on the ballot asks voters to give the school board authorization to issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $18.6 million to construct, furnish and equip an addition for classrooms/support space at the middle/high school building, and to renovate, remodel, repair, improve, furnish and equip existing portions of the middle/high school building.

Schleswig: All incumbents filed for the three seats up for election. They are Danette Miller, Rachel Frances Jacobson and Wade Gurney. Schleswig seats are all at-large.
