Zupp-Smith runs with incumbents for Denison City Council

 
 

Jennifer Zupp-Smith, who has been a frequent participant at Denison City Council meetings and a member of the Crawford County Wellness Center Ad Hoc Committee, is running for the council for the at-large seat that was vacated by Jessica Garcia

Garcia stepped down from her council seat to accept the position of city manager.

Three incumbents are running for election for the City of Denison offices – Pam Sosemen for mayor, Gregory J. Miller for an at-large seat, and John C. Granzen Sr. for the Ward 2 seat.

Following are the people who filed for city elected offices in other cities in the county.

Arion

No candidates filed for the mayor’s position and the three council seats.

Aspinwall

Mayor: Incumbent Thomas Irlbeck filed.

City council (5 seats): Kody Kerkhoff, Rick Warner, Carol Lile, Fred Irlbeck and Ted Jansen filed. Kerkhoff is the only non-incumbent. 

Buck Grove

Mayor: Incumbent Terry Kolln filed.

City council (5 seats) Incumbents Aaron Schroeder, Karen Kolln and Michele Stover filed.

Charter Oak

Mayor: Peggy Staley, currently a council member whose term ends this year, filed. The current mayor, Randy Ulmer, did not file.

City council (3 seats plus a seat to fill a vacancy): Russell Maack and James Wilcox (incumbents), and Nathan Mohr and Tracy Helmhold filed for the three seats. Alec Castillo is running to fill a vacancy. 

Deloit

Mayor: Incumbent Tyler Braasch filed.

City council (5 seats): Cheryl Kelly, Libbie Schillerberg, Gloria Andeson and Connie Mulligan (incumbents), and John Kelly filed.

Dow City

Mayor: Incumbent Landon Burhoop filed.

City council (2 seats): Serilda Block (incumbent), Bob Ettleman, Antonio Trevino and Alec Charles Hast filed.

Kiron

Mayor: No one filed; Mike Lickteig is the current mayor.

City council (3 seats): Incumbents Tamarra Eck and Nathan Tremblay filed.

Manilla

Mayor: Corey Gaskill, currently a council member, filed. Incumbent Pat Weustewald did not file nomination papers.

City council (3 seats): Pam Sebring and Kurt Champman (incumbents), and Tracie Riester, Sam Rauterkus, Lana Georgius and Courtney Woebke filed.

Ricketts

Mayor: No one filed; Jan Wessel Blunk is the current mayor.

City council (3 seats): Incumbent Drene Briggle is the only person to file.

Schleswig

Mayor: No one filed; Robert Andresen is the current mayor.

City council (2 seats): Incumbents Paul Outhouse and Troy M. Kluender filed for re-election.

Vail

Mayor: Incumbent Monte Chrichton filed.

City council (2 seats): Incumbent Suzanne M. Blume filed, along with Loren J. Petersen and Marc D. Kinney.

Westside

Mayor: No one filed; Michell Simons is the current mayor.

City council (3 seats): Incumbents Jary Quandt, Nicole Kock and Larry L. Jons all filed nomination papers.

 
 
 

Election reminders

October 18: First day for absentee ballots to be mailed to those who request them; and first day to vote absentee in the auditor’s office

October 23: last day for voters to pre-register; and last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed

November 6: Last day to vote absentee at the auditor’s office

November 7: Election day, polls open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
