Ellen Elizabeth, daughter of William and Anna Mae (White) Frogge, was born July 11, 1928, in St. Joseph, Missouri. She grew up in St. Joseph and attended school through the ninth grade.

On August 24, 1948, Ellen was united in marriage with William B.J. McLaughlin at their minister’s home in St. Joe. Ellen and Bill then moved to Sioux City, Dunlap and finally Denison where they raised their three boys.

In 2012, Ellen moved to Huxley to be closer to her sons. In 2015, Ellen was excited to have joined the Catholic Church in Elkhart. In 2020, she moved to Accura Healthcare in Ames, where she leaves behind a host of good friends whom she played bingo with, did crafts and participated in every activity they had. She will be deeply missed there.

Ellen loved to crochet, garden, fry chicken, do puzzles and play cards. She loved her family and listening to Elvis. She always had to match her clothes and jewelry and paint her nails. Ellen was a giver to everyone, sharing anything and everything she had and loved giving wheelchair rides to her great-grandkids.

On Saturday, September 9, 2023, Ellen passed away at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa, at the age of 95 years 1 month and 29 days.

Ellen is survived by three sons: Dean (Jeriann) McLaughlin of Huxley; Larry (Molly) McLaughlin of Ankeny; and Scott (Lynn) McLaughlin of Omaha, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant daughter; and four brothers: William Francis (Frank) Frogge, Edward Wallace Frogge, Jim Milton Frogge and Richard Lee Frogge.

Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Shinoj Jose served as Celebrant of the Mass with inurment in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Organist Jean Cornelius provided accompaniment for St. Rose Choir and congregational hymns ``How Great Thou Art,”  “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” Jason & Olivia McLaughlin served as lectors, Erin Bohlmann served as Eucharistic Minister and Ellen’s Grandchildren served as gift bearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jason McLaughlin, Noel McLaughlin, Kinzie Kruschke, Mitchel McLaughlin, Tanner McLaughlin, Kiley Marin, Camryn McLaughlin, Riley McLaughlin, Dane McLaughlin and Olivia McLaughlin. Following the burial, the family invited everyone to the Denison Senior Center for a time of fellowship and lunch. Services were entrusted to the Huebner Funeral Home.
