August 26, 10:49 p.m.: The Denison Police Department charged two juveniles with theft in the second degree for stealing a black GMC Sierra from a residence.

August 30: The Denison Police Department received a report of a stolen wallet. The wallet contained $350, a Social Security card and identification information. The location of the offense was a gas station on Highway 59 North in Denison.

September 1, 8:35 p.m.: Officer Groth with the Denison Police Department investigated a vehicle vs. deer accident that happened on Highway 30. John Antonio Lopez Chen, 61, of Storm Lake, was driving a black 2012 Toyota Rav 4 west on Highway 30 just west of Denison when a deer ran onto the road. The vehicle struck the deer. The vehicle received $3,000 damage and was disabled. The officer arranged a tow. 

September 2, 12 a.m.: Officer Krajicek with the Denison Police Department investigated a hit-and-run accident. A gray 2013 Ford F150 pickup was parked along the south side of Broadway in the 1500 block and was parked there from 5:30 p.m. September 1 to 10:24 a.m. September 2. The pickup was hit at some point during this time. Silver colored paint chips were found on the rear bumper of the pickup. Other debris was found scattered to the east of the pickup. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $1,400. The incident is under investigation.

September 2, 9:10 p.m.: Yamonya Sharonda Haile, 22, of Joliet, Illinois, was arrested for assault and possession of marijuana. The location of the offense was a bar on South Main Street in Denison.

September 3, 2:15 a.m.: John Akech, 43, of Denison, was arrested for domestic abuse assault, first offense. The location of the offense was a residence in the 1200 block of Broadway in Denison.

September 3, 6:46 p.m.: Abraham Gatwech Ngor, 61, of Storm Lake, was arrested for public intoxication after being found sleeping on the grass near South Main Street and 12 Avenue South in Denison.

September 3, 8:38 p.m.: A residence on 2nd Avenue North in Denison had its trampoline damaged when the netting and the poles were knocked down.

September 5: Kenneth Christiansen was charged with theft in the fourth degree for altering the electrical meter at a residence in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue South, Denison. The amount of the theft was $500.

September 8, 2:11 p.m.: The Denison Police Department was called to One Stop Shop on North 7th Street, Denison, for a gas drive-off. The case is under investigation.

September 9, 8:30 a.m.: Officer Clausen with the Denison Police Department investigated a vehicle vs. deer accident. Kendra Sue Schultz, 27, of Denison, was driving a silver 2014 Chevrolet Cruze LT north on North 10th Street when a deer struck the side of the vehicle, causing $1,500 damage.

September 9, 2:58 p.m.: Justin Michael Goins, 42, of Lidderdale, was arrested for criminal mischief in the fourth degree. The location of the offense was a residence on 3rd Avenue South in Denison. The front door of the property received $350 in damage.

September 9, 9:12 p.m.: Juan Carlos Fernandez, 39, of Deloit, was arrested for theft in the fifth degree for taking a two-pack of Bic lighters, valued at $3.12, from Walmart.

September 10, 3:44 a.m.: William Ran Bol Bading, 58, of Denison, was arrested for disorderly conduct – fighting/violent behavior. The location of the offense was on Broadway in Denison.

September 10, 1:32 p.m.: Officer Clausen investigated a two-vehicle accident. Steve Allen Fuller, 67, of Silver City, was driving a gray 2017 Hyundai and was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 59 South and Highway 30. Jonathan Socorro Nieto Moreno, 19, of Denison, was driving a white 2013 Ford Taurus and was traveling east on Highway 30, entering the intersection with Highway 59 south and Highway 30. Fuller failed to yield to the Nieto Moreno vehicle. The Nieto Moreno vehicle hit Fuller’s vehicle with its front passenger corner. Nieto Moreno had a complaint of pain on his left side but declined to have an ambulance check out the injury at the scene. The Nieto Moreno vehicle received $4,000 damage and could be driven away. Fuller’s vehicle received $6,000 damage and could also be driven away. Fuller was cited with failure to yield entering a through highway.

September 10, 3:54 p.m.: Officer Meyers with the Denison Police Department investigated a two-vehicle accident. Gladiola Medrano, 45, of Denison, was driving a white 2023 Chevrolet Silverado and Martha Patricia Caravantes, 44, of Manilla, was driving a gray 2010 Chevrolet Impala. Both vehicles reversed onto Avenue C at the same time, resulting in a collision. The vehicles entered the roadway across from each other. No injuries were reported. The Medrano vehicle didn’t appear to receive any damage and the Caravantes vehicle received $500 damage to the rear middle.

September 11, 9:02 p.m.: Reinier Rosales Espinosa, 39, of Denison, was arrested for domestic abuse assault, first offense. The location of the offense was a residence in the 400 block of North 17th Street in Denison.

September 12, 12:30 p.m.: Fernando Rigoberto Salinas Alberto, 29, of Denison, was arrested on warrants.

September 13, 9:20 a.m.: Oscar Gonzalez, 58, of Denison, was arrested for simulated public intoxication, first offense. The location of the offense was in the 1800 block of 3rd Avenue South in Denison.

September 13, 10:41 p.m.: A structure fire was reported at the Ho Hum Motel in the 900 block of Highway 30, Denison.

September 14, 12:22 a.m.: James Ding Deng, 43, of Denison, was arrested for public intoxication. The location of the offense was on Medical Parkway in Denison.

September 14, 11 a.m.: Chief Trejo with the Denison Police Department investigated a two-vehicle accident that happened at the interchange of Highway 30 and Highway 59. Oscar Iva Toapanta, 37, of Ida Grove, was driving a gray 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander and Austin Mark Corbin, 21, of Breda, was driving a white 2017 Freightliner single-unit truck. Corbin stated that he was traveling west, following Toapanta’s vehicle and when he was approaching the interchange to head north, he observed that the Toapanta vehicle had stopped in the middle of the road. Corbin could not stop his vehicle before colliding with the Toapanta Mitsubishi. Corbin also stated that he had a camera on the dash of his vehicle that captured the event. Corbin’s vehicle received $500 damage to the front middle. Toapanta’s vehicle received $1,500 damage to the rear middle. Both vehicles could be driven away. No one was injured. Toapanta was cited for not having a valid driver’s license.

September 15, 3:12 p.m.: Cpt. Cardenas with the Denison Police Department investigated a two-vehicle accident that happened in a parking lot on North 16th Street. Aiden Joseph March, 16, of Schleswig was driving a white 2015 Ford F150 pickup, and Adyson Jalen Hildebrand, 18, of Denison, was driving a black 2011 Ford Edge. March was traveling south in the parking lot and Hildebrand was backing out of a parking stall when the vehicles collided. March advised that he was traveling fast and couldn’t slow down quick enough to avoid the collision. Hildebrand advised that she looked for traffic but did not see March’s vehicle. No one was injured. March’s vehicle received $500 damage to the rear passenger side, and Hildebrand’s vehicle received $500 damage to the rear driver side corner. Both vehicles could be driven away.
