Republican Women to host baby shower for Crossroads Sparrow’s Nest

The Crawford County Area Republican Women will conduct its regular meeting at Bella Sera Restaurant in Denison at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25. A “Dutch treat” meal will be available to order from the menu.

The program will be presented by Janette Claussen with Crossroads of Crawford County. Claussen will speak about the work of the non-profit organization.

Members and guests attending the meeting are encouraged to contribute to a baby shower. The Sparrow’s Nest at Crossroads of Crawford County provides incentives for new mothers to attend classes and counseling. Donated baby items can be earned by the participants. Items can be clothing, toys or baby care products. People are encouraged to donate new (or ever so slightly used) items for this initiative and bring their items unwrapped to add to the big gift.

The baby shower is a local project of the National Federation of Republican Women’s Caring for America. Members of the Crawford County Area Republican Women are also members of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women and the National Federation of Republican Women. The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) established the Caring for America program in 1999 to encourage state federations and clubs to actively participate in at least one community service program.

Crawford County Area Republican Women President Gwen Ecklund said that interested area conservatives are invited to attend this meeting, including men and students, as well as women. Questions can be directed to Ecklund at 712-269-2250.
