Raptor rescue

Ashley Beeck had a unique opportunity at the Yellow Smoke Park nature center on Monday. While there to present a donation to Naturalist Kelly Sonnichsen, a call came in from a Denison resident to rescue two Cooper’s hawks that were abandoned by their parents. Nature center staff picked up the hawks and offered Beeck a chance to hold one of them. The hawks will be taken to Saving Our Avian Resources, an organization that does raptor rehabilitation, education, and research.
